by Daniel Nakazono
Defensive walls are built to surround a city or town, they show were the territory of the land of a city of a civilization surrounds. They protect the city from invaders. They offered military defense and they showed stability of a settlement. They also symbolized the settlements status and their independence. Defensive walls often only have a few designated exits, usually gated to keep people in or out. Many times the walls have look-out towers to survey the outer land.
This is a defensive wall enclosing an Egyptian settlement along the nile river.
